The Power of You draws people to you

I created this motto during living my experiences as a new entertainment entrepreneur. I found out that if you are making moves and are taking action in the thing you are trying to accomplish, people will come to you. Important people who are curious to know about the new guy in their Industry will find the source of the energy (You).

Pree Dammond's Motto/Quote is:

The Charles Halloween Short by Pree Dammond

The Charles Halloween Short by Pree

Charles Suave was 8 years old when his mother allowed him to participate in the Halloween Activities. Charles knew that this would be a great experience for him because it was something he never did before. He wanted to wear a one of kind unique costume so he asked his grandmother Sara to help him shop for one.

Now, Charles did not come from a wealthy family, in fact his family was in deed poor. Sara knew how important it was for a child to be involved in social activities so she sought out to help Charles find a costume that would truly be one of kind.

Sara thought of the old lady on the corner. The old lady on the corner had no name. No one knew where the old lady came from or where she was born. The old lady was a mystery neighbor who lived in an old cabin down the street. Sara heard that the old lady gave away costume to the needy.

Sara took Charles to the old lady’s house the day before Halloween. As they approach the house, you could tell that the anxiety and uncertainty of what was about to happen ran through their veins. Sara rung the door bell, but heard no sound. Charles asked Sara, why get a costume from the old lady? Why not from the store? Sara replied I’m sure the old lady will have something unique for you.

The Door opened with a screeching noise. Charles and Sara saw no one in the door way, but as they looked down they became aware that a costume with perfect measurement was before their feet.

Charles grabbed the costume and as he held it up to his body the door slammed shut. Both Sara and Charles quickly pursued the comfort of their home.

Charles was so excited about having a costume, he ran up to his room to try it on.
As Charles began to put the costume on he began to have weird feelings in his stomach.

Something was extremely wrong…

To be continued.

Knowing God is to know you

Knowing God is to know you.
written by Pree Dammond

It has been written that we are created in the image of God. I pin point the word "IMAGE" in this phrase.

Have you every heard of imaging a hard drive? If not let me briefly explain. To image a hard drive device means to copy the essence of one hard drive onto another hard drive (body). By doing this, you create a copy of the other (similar to cloning).

I believe most of us as people are clueless to the power we have within.

We look up for answers that we believe we do not have. We look up asking for things that are already promised to us. We think in the physical more than with the spiritual.

It is a known fact, that we utilize a significantly small portion of our Brain for everything that we as humans currently do.

All a long having the power of God within us, the super natural.

Today, I would like to challenge people to take there mind off materialistic things, and look in ward. Know who you are!

If you were dieing what would really matter to you? Do we really die? In the living, are you really thankful and know why you should be? In the bible, there are stories of miracles, supernatural beings doing supernatural things.

Don’t you know that we are all capable of those powers? Knowing yourself is having that power.

Know yourself is next to Godly if you ask me.

Take time to meditate. Turn off the TV, don’t read a thing, relieve yourself of materialistic desire and focus on just being. Really exist!

The Un-spoken truth behind Promoters of Mega Clubs

The Un-spoken truth behind Promoters of Mega Clubs

I write this cause I like for people to know the truth. I don’t lie, I don’t steal, and I don’t cheat. I do what is fair…

I work this way so that if I ever have a reason to lash out on anyone or anything, it’s for a legitimate cause or moral reason not for ignorance or stupidity. I rarely if not ever get to the point of lashing out.
Do you personally know a Promoter of a Mega Club? Have you ever thought that your
Promoter friend must be racking in the dough because the Club was packed to capacity?
This can and can not be true.

I’ve promoted venues on my own, so if I have a good night the door is strictly mine, and I make a profit. If I have a bad night, I lose money and I consume the lost. I'll I've done both.

Mega Club owners rarely if not ever give exclusive privileges to one particular Promoter to promote their venue. Instead, Club owner usually have several Promoters working on behalf of the club. Since promoters come a dime a dozen, Mega Clubs usually always welcome Promoters that can produce a RSVP list of people that will possibly attend.

What most people don’t know is that you don’t make a lot of money off of each person that come to the event. At max, a Promoter may make anywhere from $2 to $3 dollars per head count that shows up to the event off of a $15 to $20 dollar admission fee.

Most of the time, you don’t make any money off of people that show up from the RSVP list. You only make money when those people on your list shows up past the cut off period. The cut off period is when the Club starts charging admission to enter the club.

Mega Clubs usually let anyone enter their doors before a certain designated hour of the night anyway.

As a Promoter, it can be difficult to determine the accuracy of which the Club keeps record of your paying guest. Who’s to say that they are paying you what you deserve because most of the time the Club’s employee are the ones keeping those records.

What Promoters gain from promoting Mega Clubs are notoriety and respect. They also are able to expand their marketing database by soliciting people to attend the Mega Clubs events.

There are other options: If a Promoter is successful enough he could buy the club out for a particular night in which, that promoter would consume responsibility for all that happens that night. A promoter would usually have to have an Insurance Rider (well over a few million dollars of coverage) as well to cover any damages that occur on their particular night. He could possible make a substantial amount of money or he could lose big. The loses usually tend to be too great, so if a Promoter does this it’s usually only on special occasions in various locations.

The things that I write don’t always have to be set in stone. It usually depends on how the Promoter negotiates with the Club owner and the stipulations that are agreed upon by each professional prior to business that are conducted.

A few Mega Clubs in the Atlanta area are as follows:

Club Primal, The Opera, Sutra, Down-town Poole Palace, Pure, Club Esso, and The Davincis Cafe.

Most common mistake when mixing a sound track

Today, I was talking with the Mastering Engineer who will be handling my future Music products. He stress the importance of a good mix down before mastering a track. Mastering a soundtrack will bring a track up to Industry standard so that it can be competitive with what's heard on Radio, Clubs, and Online Distribution sites. If you are interested in music as a career it's important to have as much knowledge as possible before diving into the Industry. You have to know what is expected on your part as the recording engineer/Artist so that you get the most for you money. Trial and Error is very costly in this business, however, unavoidable at times.

The most common mistake made when mixing down a track is mixing down a session with the Master fader being set to something other than Zero.

Key points when Mixing down your track as follows:

  • Keep the Master Fader level at zero (If you turn this down, to hide distortion it will only be discovered later when the Mastering engineer raises the volumes).
  • When recording on a Beat leased or purchase from a Producer, it is a good idea to lower the volume of that track between 10dB to 15dB prior to recording your Vocals. (This will give the Mastering Engineer head room when tuning up certain frequencies and sounds).
  • If all your levels are set correctly when mixing down a sound track, you may need a Headphone distribution amp to increase the volume in the headphone. This will allow your Artist to Hear and record properly without peaking his Vocals.
  • If Compressors or Limiters were used on the Master Fader, make sure to remove them before you bounce down the track. This will keep your Mastered product from being distorted.
  • Always consult with a Mastering Engineer on the Quality of your mix down prior to starting the Mastering process. At the end of the day, the finished product represents you and all parties associated with that particular track.

Meeting with Cliff owner of State Farm

This morning, I had a meeting with a Cobb County branch owner of State Farm Insurance company. I asked Cliff (owner) what approach is he taking to insure the success of his business during these economic conditions. He told me that he's not as active in seeking new customers but is focusing more on retaining the customer base he already has. I agree that, retaining your customer based with better products and services is vital during these economic times.
It makes me wonder what other companies are doing and if this approach is being utilize across the board in other areas of business. For example: Promotions & Music.

The Music Game shifts

The Music Game shifts

I read an article today that talk about the media shift as it pertains to Record Labels. It is a known fact that CD sells have been declining for years since the intrusion of File sharing, Free down loads, and Pirated Mix CDs. In the past, Record Labels generated the majority of their revenue from the CD sells of their signed Artist.

Today, Record Labels are changing up their format. Now they are tapping into artist revenues from Performances and more, hence the 360 Deal.

The 360 Deal is basically a deal that states that a record labels is entitled to performance revenue, endorsement revenue and more. It's a record labels way of recovering their investment in an Artist, since CDs sells are declining.

It has been said that Record Labels in the future will start to handle business like Music Publishers or Stock Photography entities to generate other means of generating revenue from licensing agreements, and etc.

I guess when it's all said and done my opinion is independent is the way to go. If you handle your business like a business then opportunities will arise.

Piracy via Mix CDs kill the Music Industry

Piracy via Mix-CDs kills the Music Industry

August 22nd, 2009 by Pree Dammond.

Why are DJs destroying the Music Industry?

For the most part, DJs are paid on a per assignment bases making anywhere from $150.00 a night to thousands a night. It doesn’t surprise me to know that DJs try to make a little extra money on the side selling mix-CDs, especially those DJs who do not really have a big name for themselves quit yet.

I’m never the one to knock someone’s hustle, but when you have a love for music and the entertainment business like I do you can’t help but to see things from a professional eye.

Until, recently I thought Mix-CDs were cool and that mix-CDs from well known DJs actually help to promote upcoming Artist which is the blood line of the Music Industry. This thought process was factitious. Mix-CDs equate to piracy which is basically taking food out of the mouths of Entertainment professionals (Artist, Music executives, Music Attorneys, Directors, Engineers, and more). Piracy has a trickle down effect people.

The follow information was retained from The Recording Industry Association of America website:

One credible analysis by the Institute for Policy Innovation concludes that global music piracy causes $12.5 billion of economic losses every year, 71,060 U.S. jobs lost, a loss of $2.7 billion in workers' earnings, and a loss of $422 million in tax revenues, $291 million in personal income tax and $131 million in lost corporate income and production taxes. For copies of the report, please visit www.ipi.org.

As an Indie Label Owner/Producer and more…It is sad to say but those who support Mix-CDs are really getting a bum deal. Yeah, you think you’re getting more for your money but actually what you are doing is creating an industry that forces you to follow what ever they put in your face…hint, hint. Kind of like how the American Government dictates what we eat, see, and pay for.

Piracy kills New Music, New films, and New Talent. It is like killing and eating a baby chicken before it matures…You will not get the full satisfaction from the meal and eventually chickens will become extinct if they are not allow to mature and reproduce.

If people want to enjoy the pleasure that music brings, it will be important for them not to support Piracy. For those who are interested in the Entertainment Industry is even more important to put a stop to Piracy by any means necessary. Piracy is just another form of Laziness…For those people who I will not identify which have been put down, segregated, ridicule, and falsely accused of being lazy; it is you who are crippling your own success if in fact you support Piracy via Mix-CDs, Bootleg Movies, and etc.

I know it takes time to read, but the information is out there to do things the right way. Please run your business like it’s your business…Stop supporting Piracy

Lava topic of today num 2

What turns women on more. The smell of a man, or the smell of a woman?

I was watching this show that focuses on Answering Men questions.

The answer to this question believe or not is the smell of another woman, so if you want to turn your lady on...the best way to do it is by hugging your best female friend really closely prior to meeting your woman. I know a lot of ladies out there will disagree with this one, but surveys where done that proved it to be true.
